Fall pictures were sent home this past Friday. We have our building-wide retakes scheduled for Friday, November 4th. If your student missed the original picture day or is needing retakes, please request a retake form from the teacher, and/or send in the student's original pictures with them on November 4th.

Starting Monday, October 17th through Friday, November 18th PRice students/staff & families can bring in your old outgrown/not worn shoes, to donate tothe Sole Food Drive. We will be having a freindly contest between classes, to see which class can donate the most pairs of shoes. PRizes will be given to the class that brings the most pairs of shoes, as well as the student that brings the most shoes.
Sole Food is an organization that began in Springfield in 2010. In 2010 the organization collected 5,500 pounds of food which was $1,150 which equaled 8,000 meals! This year they have already collected 30,000 pounds of shoes & have made over $20,000 which equals out to 129,174 meals for starving people! We are so excited at the chace to help Sole Food feed many more the rest of this year.

All 2nd through 5th grade students will have a vision screening on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016. Misouri State University & students from the Citizenship & Service-Learning Department will provide these high-tech vision screenings. These college students are working on majors like bionedical sciences, pre-med, pre-optometery and social work.
Please contact the school nurse if you wish to opt out of this program.
October is Safety Month and we are celebrating Monday, October 24th through Friday, October 28th with Safe Students-Healthy Schools! Wwe will have a week of 'safety spirit days' that the students and staff will be participating in:
Monday-'Tip your HAT for safe & healthy choices'-Wear your favoirte hat.
Tuesday-'I CAN make safe & healthy choices'-Bring a can of FRUIT for People Helping People.
Wednesday-'I MUSTACHE you to make safe choices'-Tape or draw a mustache on your face.
Thursday-'We're making healthy choices like COACH'-Dress like Dishman Day.
Friday-'We are Safe & Healthy Stars'-Dress like your favoirte Movie Star.
"We are thrilled to offer The Pillowcase Project in Republic Schools & after-school programs. The program gives students the opportunity to learn about the science behind vaious hazards and the importance of preparedenss in fun & interactive way,. The hands-on activities will also help to build confidence so that kids are prepared to take action during an emergency."
The Springfield Red Cross came and spoke to the fourth & fifth grade students at Price today. They shared about the Pillowcase Project, which our students will be participating in. We are super excited about being a part of this program.
The Pillowcase Project cirriculum is structured by three core principles: Learn, Practice & Share. Students will learn about hazards, how to prepare for emergencies, enhance coping skills, practice what they have learned & share their knowledge with friends and family. The program emphasizes the importqance of developing an emergency communications plan, fire evacuation plan and emergency contact cards.
The program also teaches students how to create their own emergency supply kits by packing essential items in pillowcase for easy transport during an emergency. Students will have the opportunity to decorate and personalize their pillowcases during the presentation, and are encouraged to take them home to create a kit.

We are still waiting to receive student and staff pictures from our FAll Picture Day. We are hoping to have these pictures by the end of October. We have rescheduled our Re-take Day to Friday, November 4th. More information will come out, once we have received these pictures.
A student flu vaccine clinic will be offereed by Jordan Valley Community Health Center to ALL students in Republic R-III School District. They will be at Price on Thursday, October 27th. This is available to ALL Students, regardless of income or insurance status.
A consent form must be completed for your child to receive the flu vaccine. The vaccine that will be given this year is the inactivated influenza shot. Unfortunately, the nasal mist is NOT available. You may request a consent form from the school nurse before the 27th.
To appropriately communicate various situations that could potentially take place throughout the school year, two specific terms will be utilized: lockout and lockdown. These terms have very DIFFERENT meanings and very DIFFERENT procedures that will take place when implemented. Our goal is to effectively communicate what is taking place in our buildings during these various situations, and we feel these two terms most accurately help in achieving this goal.
LOCKOUT: A lockout will take place when there is an incident or situation where there is NO direct danger/threat perceived toward students, employees or school facilities. Business as usual will continue to take place within our school building walls. However, students are brought inside from any outdoor activities & doors ware additionally secured. It is important to note that our buildings operate daily in near-lockout status. Perimeter doors are locked and visitors are screened at the building's entrance.
Example of lockout situation: A neighboring district is in dock down. As a precaution we may out our buildings into a lockout due to the community unrest until the situation us resolved.
LOCKDOWN: A lockdown will take place when there is a situation or the district has received information regarding a potential threat to students and employees. Internal procedures, which are practiced throughout the year, are implemented. Emergency personnel may be called on site to assist.
This year our PIT Crew meetings will be held in the Price Cafeteria starting at 6:00pm, with a meal provided for those that attend. The meetings will all start at 6:30pm. There will be free childcare provided for any children that need to come with; while the parents stay for the meeting. Childcare will be after the meal in the gym. Monthly meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month, except for November's meeting.

Our PIT Crew Building Team will be hosting our 2nd Family FUNdamentals Night on Friday, November 18th, in conjunction withthe 3rd-5th Grade Music Program! Free hamburger, Chips & Drinks will be provided, while supplies last. The doors will open at 5:30 PM with the opening session starting at 5:45 pm. We are excited to honor our veteran's this year at Price Eleementary! On Friday, November 11th, at 9:00 AM in the Price gym. We would like to invite all Price family members who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. We also ask that you submit a picture of your child's serviceman or woman by Friday, November 4th. We will be using these images for a pre-Memorial Slideshow at the assembly. This year, Price Rock the ROAR Assemblies will be held on the second Monday of every month from 8:45-9:30 AM, in the Price gym. (March is an exception because of spring break.)
Assemblies allow us to recognize and honor students and staff who have shown Leadership in academic areas, attendance, or PBIS Matrix areas (Respect others, Optimistic attitude, Always safe, Responsible actions), as well as have a little fun together as a building.
Parents are always welcome to join us on our assembly dates to share in the fun! Just remember to stop bythe front office to sign in.

In partnership with Jordan Valley Community Health Clinic a FREE student flu vaccine clinic will be offered on October 25 and 27 using the below schedule. Take note that only the flu shot will be offered as the flu mist is not available this year. To sign your child up to receive a free flu shot complete the consent form HERE and submitting it to your child's school. Also, the consent form indicates there are "qualifications" to receive the flu shot. Please fill out the form as it applies to your child, but know that all children who sign up at Republic will receive the flu shot at no cost, regardless of insurance coverage.
Each spring students across the district participate in state assessments. We have been notified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) that Individual Student Reports (ISR) are available. During Parent Teacher Conferences, which will be held the week of October 31 (more information to come), individual student reports will be distributed to students who were in grades 3 and 4 that completed the MAP-GLA test last spring. Students who are in grades 5-8 that completed the MAP-GLA assessment last spring will receive individual reports attached to their next progress report from the Republic Middle School. Students who are now at the high school in grade 9 will receive their reports during an upcoming Monday WIN time. A guide to interpreting your child's results will also be included in a parent/guardian letter which will also be shared at that time. If you have any questions or would like to see your child's report prior to the aforementioned distribution times, please contact your child's school counselor.
