NEED TO KNOWS:
What's the focus of Summer SLAM?
SLAM 2016 (Summer Learning And More) is going to center around "leadership in action." Current assistant principal at Schofield Elementary, Markie Bravestone will be the Elementary Summer School Principal, and Mrs. Kelly Hobbs (3rd grade teacher at Schofield) will serve as Lead Teacher to assist Mrs. Bravestone. We are looking forward to a summer full of leadership development and learning from leaders in our community! We are also very excited about offering Spanish as a specials class for all of our SLAM students!
Where is Summer SLAM taking place? How do I know which school I attend?
SLAM 2016 will be housed in two buildings this year. Since no transportation is provided during summer school, this will help us ensure a smooth traffic flow process for our community. Sweeny and Price will be the two sites used. Sweeny will house all students who regularly attend Sweeny and Lyon, while Price will house all students who regularly attend Price, Schofield, and McCulloch.
If you do not attend the Republic School District, but are joining us for Summer SLAM and are unsure of the location you are to attend, please call 417.732.3610.
How does student drop off and pick-up work?
The doors at both Price and Sweeny will open at 8:10 a.m. Simply follow the below traffic maps to ensure student safety and to help our car lines move as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind we have over 670 students that are enrolled in Summer SLAM. We will work hard to get the line moving fast, but we appreciate your patience in advance.
The doors at both Price and Sweeny will open at 8:10 a.m. Simply follow the below traffic maps that direct you where to let your student(s) out of your vehicle. School employees will be on site to assist.
Each student will be given a name plate. Please make sure the person authorized to pick up your student has this name plate clearly displayed on the dash of the vehicle during pick-up.
Those attending the after school Summer Safari program can be picked up any time after 3:10 p.m. in the building's cafeteria. The program's hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
***PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE BELOW INFORMATION. THE PRICE TRAFFIC MAP HAS BEEN CHANGED. WE ARE EXCITED TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ADD STUDENTS ON THE WAITING LIST TO OUR ENROLLMENT, BUT IN DOING SO WE FELT IT IMPORTANT TO ADJUST TRAFFIC FLOW TO HELP ENSURE A SAFE AND QUICK DISMISSAL.*** CLICK HERE FOR THE PRICE SUMMER SCHOOL TRAFFIC MAP
ALL Kindergarten Families:
All Kindergarten students AND SIBLINGS will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m. At this time, please plan to park in the front lot of Price or Sweeny then enter the building and go to the gym to pick up your student(s). This is an effort to help improve the efficiency of the car line.
Families Without Kindergarten Students at Sweeny:
Follow the traffic maps below. Dismissal will begin at 3:10 p.m. Please do not arrive to the car line prior to 2:50 p.m. This will help to make sure traffic does not back up on City streets. We appreciate your help with this in advance!
1st Grade Families at Price:
All 1st grade students AND SIBLINGS will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. at the FRONT OF PRICE. Please reference the traffic maps below for details. please only enter FROM the NORTH (left turn in only) and only exit TO the NORTH (right turn only). We feel this will help eliminate traffic congestion for our families and those traveling City streets during this time.
2nd through 5th Grade Families at Price:
Follow the traffic maps below. Please only enter from the south (right turn into car line) and exit TO the south (left turn only). Dismissal will begin at 3:10 p.m. Please do not arrive to the car line prior to 2:50 p.m. This will help to make sure traffic does not back up on City streets. Also, be cautious of the railroad tracks, and do not stop on them. We appreciate your help with this in advance!
Your pick-up location/time is dependent on the youngest child you will be picking up. For example, if you have a Kindergartener, a 1st grader and a 4th grader you will pick up all three students at 2:50 p.m. by parking and coming inside the building.

The afternoon shuttle will leave RHS at 2:30 p.m. and will arrive at RMS at approximately 2:45 p.m. Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from RMS.
