Medication at schoolA medication policy is sent home with each student at the beginning of each school year.Medication that a student needs to take at school, either prescription or non-prescription, Must be brought to school by parent or guardian. It must come in the original container with the label on it, whether it is prescription or non- prescription, and a medication permit signed. Medication can not be sent in an envelope or zip baggy with a hand written note. If it is a prescription med have the pharmacy make two bottles (one for home and one for school). Students are not allowed to carry medications on themselves or the bus, except for inhalers that have had the proper paper work filled out. Check with the school nurse for these forms. Also a medication that needs to go home must be picked up by parent. When not to send your student to school*If they have a temperature over 100 degrees.*Are vomiting or have diarrhea. *Have an unexplained rash. *Red, itchy or draining eyes |
Reminder for keeping students healthyUse a tissue or crook of the arm when sneezing or coughing.Dispose of used tissue by throwing them in waste can. Wash hands frequently, especially before eating or preparing food, after using the bathroom, or playing on the play ground. Keep hands away from mouth and nose. DO NOT SHARE food and drinks. Get plenty of sleep – 8 to 10 hours a night. (to help support a strong immune system and maintain mental alertness.) Eat a well balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables. Get plenty of water to keep the body well hydrated. DO NOT SHARE hats, combs or other personal items. Remember to keep the school nurse updated throughout the year on any new health problems or changes in medications. This includes any changes in phone numbers or emergency contact numbers that are on the students medical file. |
