Health Screenings still under construction - we apreciate your patience

Screenings are conducted by health services staff according to the Manual for School Health Programs developed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.  If a student fails a screening, a parent/guardian notification letter is sent home requesting follow-up by the student's primary care provider.  Please bring the referral results back to the nurse.

Screenings are typically conducted through out the school year as times allows and upon referral/request from a teacher.  If you do not want you child to be screened for any or all mandatory screenings, please make your request known to the school nurse.  A new law requiring vision screenings and vision exams went to effect July 1, 2008 for all kindergarten students as well as first graders attending school for the first time.  Opt out forms specific to this law are available to download or see the school nurse (opt out vision screenings form, opt out vision exam form).

Vision and Hearing:  Performed on all kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 8th graders (freshmen as time allows).

Growth:  Height and weight are measured on all kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th graders (freshmen as time allows).  BMI (Body Mass Index) is calculated on all students during the screening process.  Healthy weight is not a diet, it's a lifestyle.  Here is a website that will allow you to calculate your child's Body Mass Index.

Postural:  Performed annuanlly on students in grades 7th and 8th.
