District Announcements

  • 2019-20 School Calendar & New Snow Day Make-Up Plans

19.20 calendar The Board of Education approved the revised 2019-20 school calendar on February 21. CLICK HERE to review it. The calendar was revised to reflect changes regarding newly passed section 160.041, RSMo indicating that Missouri school district's must complete a minimum of 1044 hours of student instruction and "must include a minimum of 36 weather make-up hours for possible loss of attendance due to inclement weather and half the number of additional lost or cancelled hours up to 48, resulting in no more than 60 total make-up hours."

Because of this change in legislation, the Republic School District Board of Education has approved for the district to use the three built-in holidays (MLK Day, President's Day and Good Friday) as snow day make-ups for next school year. However, NO SNOW DAYS beyond Good Friday will be made up. Therefore, the last day of school will be a half day on Thursday, May 21. Thank you to the Board of Education for this decision as it allows for families to make definite summer plans.

  • Updated Elementary Boundaries for 2019-20 School Year

Over the last few years our community has experienced many changes in regards to where people are living within our school district. That said, this has created disparity regarding the number of students in each of our elementary buildings. To best meet the needs of our students and to help us achieve our mission of "preparing each student for a successful future", it is important that each of our elementary buildings have similar numbers of students being served in them. We've been monitoring these changes, and brainstorming ways to address this disparity over the last several months. In doing so, it has been determined that the best solution will be to update the elementary boundaries which will be implemented for the 2019-20 school year. Visit https://www.republicschools.org/boundaryupdate for additional information. Impacted families will be notified via mailed letter and email the week of February 25.

  • flu Fighting the Flu

This flu season has been particularly rough. As a reminder, the flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. It can be spread from person-to-person through the air by coughing or sneezing or by touching an infected surface and carrying it to your nose or mouth. Check out the graphic for symptoms.

Those experiencing flu-like symptoms should stay home from school and work until at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever without the use of medicine. We recommend consulting with a doctor and making sure those with the flu get plenty of rest and fluids.

To learn more about the flu virus and prevention methods, visit https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/index.html.

  • Parent Portal has a New Look & Update Your Contact Information

The Parent Portal has a new, easy-to-navigate look! To check it out click on the “Parent Portal” icon on the website or choose this icon inside the Republic School District mobile app. As a reminder, to login use the email address you have provided to the district and enter the password you have created. If you’ve forgotten it, simply click on the “forgot password” button and follow the prompts.

This is a great tool that allows you to see grade information, meal service balances and to ensure contact information is correct. Speaking of this, please login to the Parent Portal and make sure the address, email and phone numbers we have on file for you are correct. You can find this information under the “Update Household Data” icon. Any changes you submit will be sent to your child's building office for final approval. Having updated contact information helps us to be able to communicate with families throughout the school year, and it also helps us determine correct busing routes.
