Lyon: Lifelong Leaders and Learners
Lyon Gives Back
  • January 28- February 1 Lyon will be donating to the "Souper Bowl", a food drive to support People Helping People. Please send in canned goods to see how many pounds we can collect. When bringing in your can, place it in the boxes located in the front entry and be sure to use your cans to "vote" for your favorite Super Bowl team.
  • Kids Heart Challenge (formerly Jump Rope for Heart) will run from today through February 22. We encourage our students to Think WIN WIN and work on getting their heart pumping through the month of February, but also raise money for others who might need heart help through the American Heart Association. We'd love your support! More information is coming home with your child today. Link for more information
  • McDonald's has asked us to partner with them for their Share A Heart fundraiser as well. This will begin on February 14 through February 28. Students can donate a dollar, write their name on a heart to be displayed in our entry, and proceeds will benefit the local Ronald McDonald house.
Can You Spy the Leader in Me?

Lyon Elementary will hold its first ever Leadership Day on Friday, February 22nd and we have some guest spots available!
Leadership Day is a special opportunity for our school to open our doors to others to show off the great things that are happening. Through implementing The Leader in Me process we have built a unique environment where the principles, practices, and habits of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People® are embedded into our culture. We would love for our families to spend the morning with us and see Leader in Me in action.
If you are interested in joining us, please fill out the form below. Please note that the $10 charge will help cover the cost of lunch. We have a limited number of spots available, so this will be a first come first serve basis.
Registration will close on February 1st.

Update on School Goals:
Lyon's goal is that 80% of students meet grade level standards in writing and math. As you can see, we have some celebrations to share with you! We contribute success to the strong interventions we have in place for all students. Each grade level participates in WIN (What I Need) time 3 days a week to focus in on student needs or pushing students to move above and beyond the grade level standard.
Lyon also wants to share attendance and discipline celebrations with our families! Lyon's attendance continues to be the highest in the district, with over 95% of students at school at least 90% of the time. This exceeds our goal of 94%. We also want you to take note of our yearly discipline comparison and how office discipline has decreased dramatically this year. Lyon staff feel there is a strong correlation between Leader In Me and the implementation of both LEAD teams and WIN time as to the why behind an increase in attendance and a decrease in discipline.
Leadership Assembly
Check out these photos from today's assembly taken by our SNAPS LEAD team!

We appreciate Ms. Amy Emery from American Heart Association for speaking to Lyon about the Kids Heart Challenge.
