Mrs. Tricia Zinecker

Welcome!  I am excited to be beginning year twenty, of my teaching career.  My teaching experience includes music education at all levels.  I taught fifth and sixth grade general music and choir for seven years in The Woodlands, Texas, and finished my Texas experience as a high school director at Conroe High School, Conroe, Texas.  I taught elementary music in Nixa for a year, after moving back to my hometown of Springfield, Missouri.  My husband and I were blessed with a third child, and I took a five year reprive from public school teaching.  During this time, I taught voice at Drury University, directed the choirs at Christ Episcopal Church, and worked as Associate Director for Children's Choirs of Southwest Missouri. I returned to public school teaching at the best district in the state of Missouri, Republic R-III School District, in 2003.  I began my work in Republic at the elementary level, and after seven years, moved to Republic Middle School, where I enjoy teaching general music and directing the "Sixth Grade Singers," an award winning choir.
I hold a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Drury University.  I am certified to teach both music and art,  K - 12, in Missouri, and Texas.  I have been married for twenty four years to Jim Zinecker, Band Director, Springfield Public Schools, and I adore my three children.  Elly is a sophomore at Drury University, Molly is a senior at Republic High School, and Ian is in the eighth grade at Republic Middle School.
The first day that I walked into my own classroom in 1990, I knew that teaching music was not only going to be a profession, but a calling for me.  I love my job and my students.  My philosophy of  education aligns with the current trend of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), in education.  I believe music students learn best when all of the core subjects are presented in an integrated way, through the arts.  I am passionate about helping every child, regardless of ability, enjoy a life long love of music.  I am looking forward to learning together with your children, this year!
