    Chance Wistrom
Chance Wistrom is entering his third year of service as Superintendent of the Republic R-III School District and 19th year in the field of education. Prior to joining the Republic team, Mr. Wistrom served the Miller community as Superintendent of Schools, and prior to his term in Miller he served as Principal of Parkview High School in the Springfield Public School system. In addition to his roles as an administrator, Mr. Wistrom served as a science teacher and taught subjects ranging from physical science to advanced placement chemistry. During this time he came to understand the importance of backward designed instruction, engagement of all stakeholders and student ownership of learning.

Mr. Wistrom and his family, which includes wife Sara and two daughters, moved to the Republic community four years ago. Shortly after moving to the Republic community, the position of Superintendent became available and he jumped at the opportunity to serve the community in which he resides and the schools which his daughters will attend. He and his family continue to be captivated by the caring Republic community, and are humbled to continue their service to its patrons.

The Republic R-III School District continues to grow with the Republic community as the school district partners with the City of Republic to maximize resources to better serve the youth and patrons of our wonderful community. Additionally, the school district continues to increase its efficacy in empowering youth for a successful future as indicated by increased attendance, increased state assessment scores, increased hours of college credits offered, increased classroom technology, expanded gifted programming and progressive early childhood programming. Evidence of these successes may be found in the foyers of each district building and are a result of Republic’s wonderful community, teaching staff and student body. Insuring these successes is an emerging culture of continuous improvement that is predicated upon stakeholder feedback and data driven decision making processes.

Mr. Wistrom has been honored for his service to education and the community in several ways. Most recently he was awarded the 2013 “New Superintendent of Schools Award” by the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA). In addition to his role as Superintendent, Mr. Wistrom serves the Republic and Springfield area community in the following capacities: Executive Board of Directors for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, P-20 Council of the Ozarks Advisory Committee, Republic Care to Learn Advisory Committee, Republic School and City (SAC) Advisory Committee and Republic Community Foundation Leadership Council.
