The newly formed Tiger Theatre Troupe, featuring 7th and 8th Students from Republic Middle School, is proud to present its very first production: “The Treasure of Shiver River...or...It’s Hard to Drive Cattle When Their Horns are Frozen” by Flip Dobler and Cindy Marcus.

David Krudwig, Theatre Director and Teacher at Republic High School, will direct the production with assistance from Jessica Champion, Speech and Debate Teacher at Republic Middle School. Audiences can expect a fresh spin on an old-fashioned “mellerdramer”—a performance packed with humor, adventure and plenty of fun for the whole community.

“The Treasure of Shiver River” is a lively and humorous play that incorporates traditional melodramatic elements. The story revolves around the conflict between the villain Rod Enreel, who aims to take over the Shiver River Ranch and find hidden treasure, and the heroic Marshal, Marshall Law, who is in love with Heidi Claire, the daughter of Colonel Sanders. The plot thickens as the villain lacks of a good evil laugh, which leads him to appoint an “Evil Laugher” from the audience. Filled with colorful characters and a plot centered on hidden treasure and romantic entanglements, this show is sure to “tickle your fancy."

In collaboration with The Tiger Theatre faculty at Republic High School, the Republic Stagecraft students build the set, while the Republic Design students create the design for the costumes, hair and makeup, props, lighting and sound for the production. Together, the high school and middle school students are working as a team, sharing skills and expertise to bring the show to life and create a memorable experience for the entire Republic community.

“The Treasure of Shiver River” will be presented Friday and Saturday on October 24 th & 25 th , 2025 at 7:30 PM in the Republic Middle School Theatre.
