On Thursday, November 6, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released the latest Annual Performance Report (APR) scores for districts across the state. Before sharing details about our results, we want to briefly explain what these scores represent and how they are used.
What is the APR?
Missouri’s DESE uses the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP) to evaluate district academic performance and continuous improvement. Each year, districts receive an Annual Performance Report (APR) that measures academic student performance, improvement and other key indicators of achievement.
Republic APR Overview
The Republic School District earned 85.7% of the total points possible, with 171.5 out of 200 points. This reflects a decrease of 1.3% from last year. While scores fluctuate slightly from year to year, this year’s APR again demonstrates our students’ academic achievement and the collective effort of our educators.
Each of our K-12 buildings also receive APR scores, which are available for viewing on the DESE website. While building performance contributes to our district result, the overall APR score is not an average of building scores.
Through the APR, school districts are scored on student performance on standardized tests and continuous improvement. We want to celebrate hitting the “Status” target for all students in English-Language Arts, Math and Science. We will continue to focus on students meeting “Growth” targets and attendance across the district, along with College-Career Ready (CCR) Assessments at the high school level.
The data used to compile the APR reflects the 2024-2025 school year. Our educators and leaders have been focusing on opportunities for improvement since the start of the school year. Therefore, we’ve already implemented action steps to address the needs of our students and continue to do so on a regular basis. In addition, Republic School District practices Early Release Fridays, which allow staff to review data weekly to make instructional adjustments in real-time – ensuring we meet students’ needs quickly and effectively.

Guided by our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) – developed in partnership with our community – we will continue striving toward academic excellence and overall growth for every learner.
Our Focus
In addition to traditional measures of academic achievement, Republic School District takes a broader approach to student success through both our CSIP and participation in the Success Ready Student Network. These efforts emphasize our commitment to developing the whole student by focusing on both academic growth and personal competencies that prepare learners for life beyond graduation.
While the APR provides a snapshot of students’ academic performance, our CSIP serves as an ongoing guide and tool to monitor growth throughout the school year. It includes goals related not only to learning outcomes, but also to culture, leadership and belonging, ensuring that every student is supported and valued.
We believe success is about more than test scores – it’s about helping students build the knowledge, skills and personal strengths to thrive in any path they choose.
We thank our families, students, employees and community for their ongoing support of Republic Schools. Together, we’re preparing each student for future excellence.
