Three Republic community members have filed their candidacy for three open positions on the Republic School District Board of Education. Denny Lawson and Terry McConnell (incumbents) will each serve three-year terms starting in April, along with new member Rob Buchanan.

Under the provisions of Missouri Statute Section 115.124, if the number of candidates who file is the same as the number of positions to be filled by the election (three), there will be no election. Since this is the case, at the Board of Education’s April organizational meeting, the district will swear in these candidates and elect officers.

The Republic School District would like to thank outgoing Board of Education member, John Parker, for his service to our district since being elected in 2017. He did not seek re-election, leaving his seat available.

Denny Lawson, current Board of Education President, was first elected in 2011 and is currently serving his fifth term on the Board of Education. He will begin his sixth term in April. Terry McConnell was first elected in 2023 and is currently serving his first term on the Board of Education. He will begin his second term in April. This will be Rob Buchanan’s first term serving on the Board of Education.
