As we wrap up National School Bus Safety Week, we'd like to share pictures from this week's bus evacuation drills at McCulloch Elementary School! Every K-6th grade student across the district participates in one of these drills every October and again in the spring. Our Transportation Department uses these opportunities to meet students, share bus safety information with them and practice evacuating a bus in an emergency. #RepMOProud

SOCKTOBER is in full swing! Join us in collecting socks throughout October for local philanthropic groups, including our own Price Tag and Locker 518 free clothing stores. To participate, send new socks to school with students or drop off donations to any building office!
Our community partners, Hood United Methodist Church, joined the effort by donating 1,000 pairs of Bombas socks to Price Tag and Locker 518! THANK YOU! #RepMOProud

At each Board of Education meeting during the school year, we have a "Building Spotlight" to showcase the remarkable efforts across our district. This month, we heard from Price Elementary School students, staff members and administrators. They shared how the school is incorporating social skills and work habits into students' learning.

In response to a survey in early 2023, our district added 10 minutes to the end of each school day, which allowed us to incorporate a four-day Fall Break into our school year calendar! The district was also able to extend Winter Break.
During Fall Break, there will be NO SCHOOL for students October 27-30. We'll resume classes on Tuesday, October 31! #RepMOProud

Lyon Elementary School's Student Lighthouse Team met for the first time this week! Each elementary building in our district has a similar group of students who provide feedback and ideas to guide decisions at their school. We value these student leaders' voices and perspectives! #RepMOProud

Officer John Stowe is making a difference at the Republic Early Childhood Center! The School Resource Officers across our district create a safe educational environment for all students and staff by building relationships and offering security lessons. In addition, each SRO is highly trained and equipped to respond to any urgent situation in our schools. We are #RepMOProud to have their expertise and presence in our buildings! We're looking to grow our School Police team! Visit republicschools.org/repmoteam for details about our School Resource Officer position.

We are #RepMOProud to celebrate our first group of RepMO Hero Nominees for the year! Each month throughout the school year, the district honors employees who go above and beyond the call of duty. District employees are participating in Tennis Shoe Tuesdays this school year!! On the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, employees are encouraged to wear tennis shoes with their "Academics, Culture and Leadership" t-shirts in hopes of inspiring them to get in extra steps and activity for the day! The overall wellness of our employees is incredibly important to us!
We'd like to invite our students to participate as well. One idea is to check out the MILE MAP at the following link, which provides (approx) one-mile walking routes starting from each of our buildings! https://ow.ly/u9ON50PO2zN
Thank you to our sponsors for making it possible to provide t-shirts to all employees: CoxHealth, Beauty + Wellness Co, Ozark Mountain Ridge Runners (OMRR). #RepMOProud

Republic Early Childhood Center students are learning how to build relationships, take turns with toys and practice fine motor skills. At recess, Ms. Kristi Barnes' and Ms. Emily Drollinger's classes took turns playing with an adaptive toy that requires pressing a button to activate music. #RepMOProud

At each Board of Education meeting during the school year, we have a "Building Spotlight" to showcase the remarkable efforts across our district. Missed learning has an effect on student achievement. Republic High School students with higher attendance rates, also had higher Grade Point Averages. As shown in the graph, as attendance rates decline, so do GPAs.
In addition, we know that most students who graduate from RHS continue their education or transition directly into the workforce. Regardless of their path after graduation, attendance will be vital. As we encourage strong attendance for middle and high school students, we support their development of good habits for whatever their future holds.
For more information from our #EveryDayCounts attendance initiative, visit republicschools.org/everydaycounts. #RepMOProud

Did you know? When a student misses school two days per month, they will miss 20 days of school per year, including at least 30 hours of math and 60 hours of reading/writing instruction. In addition, students who miss two days of school per month will miss more than one year of school by the time they graduate. Those numbers are doubled for students who miss four days per month.
For more information from our #EveryDayCounts attendance initiative, visit republicschools.org/everydaycounts. #RepMOProud
